Message from Pastor Skinner
1 Timothy 4:8 says, “For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things.” Here at Mount Zion, we minister to our physical health through our “Cross-trainers” exercise program available for everyone who wishes to attend, on Thursdays at 6:00 pm. God wants us to do our part in maintaining good health. But, even more, God wants us to maintain and increase our spiritual health and growth. We do this not only by daily prayer, devotion and meditation, but also by constantly reading and studying the Word of God. The Bible says, “Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth” (2 Tim. 2:15).
While our Sunday morning sermons are designed to preach, teach and minister the Word of God to you, I encourage your continued spiritual growth by attending and participating in our various teaching ministries at the church: 1) Sunday School; 2)Wednesday Noon Bible Study; 3) Wednesday Evening Bible Study; 4) Thursday Men’s Bible Study; 5) Thursday Women’s Bible Study. While each of these teaching ministries are very helpful to our regular attendees and contribute much to the spiritual growth of the church, none are attended as much as they could be. Therefore, I would like to encourage you to attend at lease one of these classes each week and experience the growth of God in your life. This is a great opportunity to ask questions that you may have had during the years. These classes provide an opportunity to minister and to be ministered to by fellow Christians. (1 Peter 4:10).
